from: Prans

Whether you want to toss some noodles, make a soup or even curry, it’s good to stock up on some of these ingredients. These are the essential Ingredients for preparing Thai Food.
  1. Fish Sauce
  2. Oyster Sauce
  3. Lemon Grass
  4. Thai Red Chillies
  5. Galangal (It is often called Thai ginger, but though it belongs to the ginger family the tastes differs)
  6. Garlic
  7. Thai lemon basil
Most of us can’t tell the difference between Chinese and Thai food, to help us out. Though the style of cooking Chinese and Thai food is similar, the flavour and ingredients can help you make the distinction. Thai food can be sweet, salty, sour and spicy owing to recipes of various regions of the country. We don’t use a lot of soya sauce to cook Thai food and you often find recipes with a lot of fresh vegetables, fish and sometimes even peanuts. Thai cuisine also has larger variety of salads and starters than Chinese has.”
