What Natural foods are Aphrodisiacs for Men(Male) and women(females)

from: Bruvan

If you are one of those couples who's game for something 'different', try the 'food route' this year. There is no sincerer love than the love of food, very basic human instinct - eating- so succinctly, several things edible have been used for centuries to rouse latent passions.

Tomatoes were first thought to be the famous forbidden fruit of the Garden of Eden when they were brought over from the New World, and were called 'love apples.' In China, sea cucumber was called the 'Ginseng of the Sea.' Aphrodisiac plants have been used for ages to improve potency, helping cure infertility and sterility, or just to spice up one's sex life.

Every culture has its list of 'magical foods' that can create chemistry between two people. So, if the Western world has given us champagne, chocolate and oysters, then India has gifted saffron, cardamom, and other spices to the world.

So, what are the foods that can turn up the heat? Clams, oysters, and other seafood rate high on the aphro list. Caviar makes a wonderful sensual starter. Turnips in milk and asparagus are considered a sure shot to bring some zing back into your evening. Truffles and vanilla can create magic.

India's contribution to this list would definitely be headed by spices like saffron, cardamom, basil, etc. The fruit kingdom offers some great aphros too. Strawberries, bananas, dates, apricots, peaches, and pears head the list. Champagne, wine which lower inhibitions, and chocolate are great hits with those who see food as a means to heighten a sensual experience.

So, why are these foods considered aphrodisiacs? Well, if you are a food lover who sees eating as an experience rather than just a means of subsistence...you will know why. While saffron is known to increase one's desire, the mere scent of vanilla can inspire a thousand fantasies. As far as truffles are concerned - the musky scent of these mushroom-like delicacies are said to stimulate and sensitise the skin. Aniseed is another not so well-known aphro - sucking on the seeds from the anise plant is supposed to increase desire. A must have on every aphro list is of course oysters - many believe that it's the silky, velvety texture of raw oysters that kindles one's carnal desires.

Here are some quick recipes that you can whip up for a magical evening:

A very exotic concoction would be: Chocolate covered strawberries with champagne. Purchase your favorite champagne and chill. Buy fresh strawberries that have their stems intact. Wash, dry and refrigerate the strawberries. Buy a jar of Nutella and chocolate hazelnut spread. Place one cup of Nutella in a double boiler or fondue pot. Add one or two tablespoons of heavy cream. Heat over low heat! Add more heavy cream as needed until the consistency of heavy cream. Serve your Valentine.

A heady cocktail would be : Envie de chair (Flesh 'wanted'). In the shaker (with ice), put in one measure gin, 1/3 measure Cointreau, 1/4 measure dry vermouth, two dashes grapefruit juice, one dash lime juice, one or two tea spoon(s) ginger. Shake and strain into a cocktail glass, frosted with lime and ginger.

You could try some quick starters too. For stuffed mushrooms, choose the largest caps you can find. Wash and remove stems. Stuff with a smoked oyster and sharp cheddar cheese. Stovetop instant stuffing consisting of Bacon bits, bread crumbs, grated onion, dry vermouth, and parmesan cheese. Cook at 350° for 10 to 12 minutes.

Ham and Oysters is another great bet. Take a thin luncheon style sliced ham and cut into strips. Roll an oyster in the ham and secure with a toothpick. Brush with melted lemon butter. Broil for 10 to 15 minutes.

You can also serve caviar by opening a chilled can of caviar and placing upon ice. Accompaniments could be thinly sliced lemon wedges, crackers and cream cheese. You can round the cream cheese into a ball, place in center of plate. Ring around outside alternating lines of crackers, lemon wedges and celery sticks if you wish. One of the great bets for a main course dish would be saffron rice. So, here's to a great evening. Bon Appetit!
