Kamal Kakdi Curry Lotus Stem Curry and recipes

Kamal Kakdi Curry (Lotus Stem Curry)

Ingredients: 

  • Drumsticks flower (suhandra): 250 gms
  • Kamal Kakdi ( Lotus stem):250 gms
  • Tomato: 2 (mid-size)
  • Onion: 2 mid-size
  • Green chilli: 4 (cut into pieces)
  • Fresh green garlic: 100 gms
  • Salt: 1/2 tsp
  • Red chilli powder:1/2 tsp
  • Garam masala: 1/2-1 tsp
  • Turmeric powder:1/2 tsp
  • coriander powder: 1/2 tsp
  • Oil:3 tbs
  • Curd: 50 gms
  • Coriander leaves for garnishing.
Method of Preparing Kamal Kakdi Curry (Lotus Stem Curry) : 

Clean and boil drumstick flower with salt. Let it cool and then strain the water. Cut Kamaal kakdi into small pieces and pressure-cook it with one whistle. Heat oil in a kadai, add onion slices, green chilli pieces, green garlic (cut into pieces) and tomato grated, then sauté all for few minutes.
 
Add curd. Mix boiled kamal kakdi and drumstick flower and fry on slow-fire for 10 minutes. Add salt, red chilli powder, turmeric, coriander powder and garam masala. Add water (1 cup) and cook on low flame for another 10 minutes. Garnish the curry with coriander leaves. Serve hot with Jawar ki doda (Jawar ki roti.)
