Date cake - Arabic recipes

Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cup plain flour/maida
- 1 cup sugar, powdered
- 1/4 cup butter/margarine
- 3 eggs
- 1 cup fresh dates, chopped
- 1 cup hazelnuts/ walnuts, chopped
- 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp vanilla essence
- 1 tsp ground elaichi
- 1/2 tsp dalchini powder
- Pinch of salt
1. Mix the butter and sugar together until it forms a smooth mixture.
2. Add the eggs and vanilla and beat them.
3. Sift the flour, baking powder, elaichi, cinnamon and a pinch of salt into a separate bowl.
4. Gradually add flour and dates alternately to the butter and eggs. Beat.
5. Stir in the chopped hazelnuts and mix well.
6. Pour the cake mixture into a greased cake tin and bake in a pre-heated oven (180 C / 350 F) for 35-40 minutes.
7. Remove. Cool and cut into slices or wedges.
